Welcome! After much consideration, and the fact that several of my friends refuse to let me lounge on my sofa in peace, I have started this blog. I intend to post primarily about knitting, but I expect that plenty of other tidbits will sneak in, so I’ll admit a few things up front. Forewarned is fore armed, right?
I work in theatre, and no I don’t act, thank you very much. I am a technician- a master electrician to be exact. No, that does not mean I wire outlets and fix breakers, it means I make sure all of the lighting for all the shows looks the way the designers and directors want them. It’s terribly exciting, especially as I am currently employed at a children’s theatre.
Another thing to know about me is that I not only watch anime and play video games and read comic books, I even go to conventions for such things! It’s not as bad as it sounds. Several of my friends (the same ones who insisted I start blogging, hmm..) are involved with webcomics. I go to be a sort of Communal Booth Babe. I sell their tshirts and posters, and they take me to exotic places like Boston and Charlottesville for fun weekends away.
As to knitting, I learned knitting first when I was very young and was reintroduced to knitting about a year and a half ago, thanks to our costume shop manager. I recently finished my very first sweater- a cabled hoodie, and I’ve started on my version of Tubey in a really soft alpaca. I also do a small amount of weaving and spinning. Fiber arts have become so much a way of life for me that my mother is actually starting to worry.
Well, now that I’m feeling like I’m wearing the blogging equivalent of a “Hello, My Name Is” tag, I’m starting to feel very lame about it indeed. I would like to say thanks to Hawk, though, for holding my hand and doing all kinds of tech support for me. Thanks Hawk!!! Until next time, then!
