Also pasta and garlic bread. Mmmm. Garlic bread. Today being my unexpected day off, I was presented with an opportunity to hang out with Hawk, Jamie, and Audrey. Three awesome people, if I may say so myself. After lunch in Chinatown (hand pulled noodles! Made by hand!) we drifted over towards the art galleries with the intention of finding the museum with the Hokusai exhibit. On the way, we passed the Hirshhorn, and detoured in to take in the Hiroshi Sugimoto photography exhibit. Wow. Just wow. Portraits of Henry VIII, interesting treatments of architecture and 1000 golden Buddhas later and I must admit being impressed.

We did find the Hokusai in the Sackler (alongside EVEN MORE work from Sugimoto!) and I could have stayed there for the rest of the day. My grandfather became a huge Hokusai fan when he was stationed in Japan, and I grew up with some reproductions of prints- including the Great Wave, of course. I absolutely adore his work, and I got to see a lot of things that I didn’t even know he’d done. His paintings! His how-to art books! His sketches! *drool* Someday I will have wall space and I will get to buy art, and when I do, Hokusai reproductions will definitely be on my list.

What? Huh? Do I even knit anymore? Well of course I do! Um, sorta. Wow have I been busy. Work is crazy right now and I’m usually too tired to do anything requireing the slightest amount of thinking after. However, There are socks! And swatches! See?!

I have frogged the leg twice because I couldn’t count. I have it this time! Honest! I think.
Also, here’s my felted swatch. It’s much flatter than it looks here, so I’m going to try to use another yarn. We shall see. but the cable part worked out really well!
